What a tough reality to grapple with. But this fan’s light at the end of the tunnel was Matthew-shaped! He revealed that after meeting him at Seattle’s Emerald City Comic Con event, he got the motivation to believe in himself:
“Before leaving, I got to meet you at Seattle’s ComicCon. I was really unwell, emotionally, physically, mentally. I told you what was up. You put everything down, stood up, hugged me. You told me to give you a real bear hug. For minutes, it seemed. You said ‘You got this. One day at a time. I believe in you.’ I cried cried.”
Well, Mr. Lillard…”
OMG! What an incredible moment! In a follow-up post, the fan continued:
“I HAVE 18 MONTHS SOBER TODAY!!! Thank you for being you. Your words & actions moved me & stayed with me. Just want to thank you for your heart. Who you are. You are a real one. We all see it. That’s why you had the longest line at ComicCon by a mile. He stayed after ‘closing time’ so he could meet EVERYONE that showed up for him. He’s the real deal.
Thank you, Matthew! Love you.
— Alex”
That is so incredibly sweet! The fan added:
“PS — We sang ‘Suddenly Seymour’ together to Skeet Ulrich as he signed my Ghostface mask.”
