We still can’t believe we have lost the amazing Maya Angelou.
It seems so unreal as she seemed invincible while she touched millions of lives.
But alas, the wonderful and inspirational woman passed away this morning at 86 years old.
And now her family has released a statement via Facebook about the loss that will surely have many grieving on this sad day:

Statement from Dr. Maya Angelou’s Family:
Dr. Maya Angelou passed quietly in her home before 8:00 a.m. EST. Her family is extremely grateful that her ascension was not belabored by a loss of acuity or comprehension. She lived a life as a teacher, activist, artist and human being. She was a warrior for equality, tolerance and peace. The family is extremely appreciative of the time we had with her and we know that she is looking down upon us with love.

We’re sure Maya is at peace looking down at all those who love her so much.
She will be greatly missed, but she will not be forgotten.
