Meghan Markle Reportedly Complains To Friends 'No One Would Have Put Up With' Kate Middleton Being 'Needlessly Bashed' Like She Was!

Meghan Markle Kate Middleton Double Standard Royals Palace

Last week, just days before the first hearing in their trial was about to begin, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially severed ties with four major UK tabloids.

In a strongly worded open letter, the Sussexes announced there would be “no corroboration and zero engagement” on their part with outlets which posted stories they considered to be “distorted, false, or invasive beyond reason.”

But would they have had to make such a declaration on their own behalf — and indeed felt the need to step away from their Royal duties and escape to the USA (by way of Canada) if The Firm valued Meghan as much as Kate Middleton??

Meghan doesn’t think so, according to a friend spilling to DailyMail.com (which, yes, is one of those four publications) on Monday.

While word from behind the Palace doors indicated surprise at the couple’s announcement, the insider claims:

“Meghan said no one in the royal family should be surprised with the announcement. She said everyone knew exactly how Harry felt about the British tabloids and the changes he wanted made in order to protect his family. Meghan said Harry needed to take a stand for her, their son and his mother.”

According to this friend, one thing in particular “irritated Meghan and Harry the most” — the couple both believe if the press “constantly criticized and needlessly bashed Kate the way they did her, changes within the royal’s media policy would have been made. No questions asked.”

“[Meghan said] no one would have put up with it, and the broken and outdated system would have been revised. Those outlets responsible for their vicious attacks would have been shut out.”

The source says Harry went to his family “constantly” about his bride’s treatment by the press, but they “wouldn’t do anything to change the protocol,” something which pushed the Prince over the edge:

“[Meghan] said it was infuriating that Harry’s very real and valid concerns fell on deaf ears. Meghan said they made it seem like this is the way it is, deal with it. Harry had been dealing with it far too long. She said he wasn’t going to let this destroy her life and their marriage.”

Wait — did Megxit happen because of a perceived double standard with Prince William‘s wife??

Obviously there was much more in play, says the source, who cites Meghan’s firsthand description of the tabloid treatment:

“Meghan said when she was living in England, she was being bullied by the media non-stop and Harry knew he had to do something dramatic to protect her and the family. She said she was being treated unfairly and picked on for everything she did including rubbing her belly too much when she was pregnant. She said there was no way she was going to go through motherhood being criticized for every little thing she did.”

So the Royal Family’s refusal to update their relationship with the tabloids was kind of responsible for Megxit?

Meghan’s friend elaborates:

“She said she told Harry that it was only going to get worse, It was a no win situation and the only solution was to take control of their own lives. Harry needed to take a stand for her, their son and his mother. Meghan said Harry made it crystal clear that they could not function in good faith under the current system… and that if it wasn’t revised and updated to their liking, they would have no other choice than to break from the royal family. She said no one took his pleas seriously, so they had to take the issue into their own hands.”

Wow. For Harry, it was about more than Meghan; it was about the memory of his mother’s struggles with these kinds of publications:

“This was about protecting the family and doing right by Princess Diana. She said the British tabloids have haunted Harry since childhood and should have been kicked out of the media pool long ago. The system is broken and Harry wanted to fix it. She said he needed to take a stand and now they are doing it together.”

Do YOU think Harry and Meghan made the only decision they could have? Would they still have considered leaving if Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth had listened to their complaints more seriously?

Most importantly — do YOU think The Firm would have treated the situation differently if it had been Catherine in the crosshairs??
