As you may have seen over the weekend, Meghan Markle made her royal balcony debut during Saturday’s Trooping the Colour ceremony.
You may also have noticed she was little bit in the back…

Why was she playing second fiddle to Kate Middleton when it was her debut??
According to royal expert and Majesty magazine managing editor Joe Little, there’s an etiquette to these things. As he put it to People:

“She was not as prominent perhaps as some people might have expected, but there’s a pecking order. There was no slight intended, but William being the older, more senior brother would go out [first] with his wife.”

“Pecking order”? Hmm.
Seems strange to us here in America where all are created equal — but yes, the British Royal family still follows the ancient custom of primogeniture where firstborn Prince William is the heir — and little bro Prince Harry is the spare.
And that importance extends to their wives.
Little does point out:

“[Meghan] was still in a good position. She was central rather than the alternative of being in the front row and along the balcony to the left or right.”

That does make her easier to find in photos — when she’s not completely blocked that is…

LOLz!
So what do YOU think, Perezcious readers?
Should anyone be getting upset about Meghan getting pushed to the back? Or totally NBD??
