Meghan Markle Consoled Prince Harry During One Of His 'Very Emotional' Last Royal Appearances

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have likely been experiencing a LOT of emotions over the past few days.

As you’re likely aware, the couple recently wrapped up their final events as senior members of the royal family during a visit to the UK. Among the appearances was attending the Mountbatten Festival of Music at the Royal Albert Hall, where the pair stunned in coordinating red ensembles.

While Meg wore a stunning caped gown, Harry put on his military uniform, which represents his role as Captain General of the Royal Marines, for the last time. ICYMI, the 35-year-old served in the Army for 10 years, rising to the rank of Captain and completing two tours in Afghanistan. However, part of the Megxit agreement in place means his honorary military positions will be suspended.

A source explained (below) to People:

“That was very emotional for him. That’s 10 years of his life that he gave to serve his country, and he basically has to give it away now because he’s choosing to protect his family.”

The insider added:

“Deep down they are truly in love with each other, and what you see is truly who they are.”

A second confidant told the outlet that the thought of making an exit from the royal fam in some capacity was actually on Harry’s mind for quite some time. Apparently, he began sharing with friends about his desire for a fresh start in the fall because he needed to “put his wife and son first, and that it had been really hard. He is obviously very devoted to her.”

The source continued:

“This is what Meghan and Harry have always wanted to create their own life. It’s got to feel like an immense relief to get out of the U.K. and go down their own path.”

During all of their scheduled visits in the UK, Miz Markle was seen keeping a tight grip on her husband’s hand. We heard a bit of insight into what their body language means from expert Blanca Cobb following their appearance at the Commonwealth Day services at Westminster Abbey, who shared with Us Weekly:

“As Harry and Meghan were walking toward the car after finishing talking with the children, you can see Meghan reached out immediately and she rubbed her hand down Harry’s forearm and grabbed his hand. You can see they have this emotional connection and it’s important to them, it’s just part of their relationship.”
