The rift in the royal family is reportedly continuing to grow.
Though Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made a public appearance with Kate Middleton and Prince William earlier this month in honor of Remembrance Day, multiple insiders have reported things are apparently anything but friendly between the foursome.

A source divulged to People:
“Everyone was doing their duties, doing what they needed to do on behalf of the family—and that was that. But there is a divide between the four of them. It’s hard for people to digest, because everyone wants them to be such a unit.”
The insider added:
“William is the future King. There is going to be some competitiveness between him and Harry. That already puts a rock in the relationship.”
Longtime royal historian Robert Lacey chimed in:
“After the death of their mother, Princess Diana, in 1997, the two brothers were thrown together by the tragedy of their childhood. But it’s inevitable, as they grow up and develop different personalities, that synchronicity won’t apply anymore.”
These reports of an increased rift between the couples comes after confirmation of an imminent physical distance between them during the upcoming holiday season.
After rumors began to swirl that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with baby Archie Harrison, would be spending Christmas in Los Angeles with Meg’s momma, the news was quickly confirmed via a Buckingham Palace Statement:
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month. Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, [the couple] will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the duchess’ mother, Doria. This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the royal family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”

A royal source emphasized to the publication the separation for the brothers is because of the new chapter they are both adjusting to:
“As is often the case in any family, when one of your siblings gets married, there’s always a period of readjustment.”
Another insider added:
“Just on a human level, if you take everything else out of the equation, I don’t think they’re in very good shape to deal with anything right now. Everyone is hoping that they will come back from this break stronger than ever, and maybe with some time out of the spotlight, they can figure out what path to take next.”
The confidant shared:
“They’re going to have to try to figure out how to be civil, but they are on different paths now. It’s just the reality of the situation.”
