Per new DailyMail.com reports, the employees who work out of Frogmore Cottage are also dealing with the fallout from Megxit. The two permanent live-in workers – a house manager and a cleaner – are being moved to other duties within the ranks of royal staffers ahead of the impending changes.

Additionally, workers who are employed on an as-needed basis – chefs, maids, footmen – have been told their services are no longer required, AKA they’ve been axed!!

A source divulged:

“The workers are already being offered other roles at Buckingham Palace. There is a skeleton staff there all the time, consisting of one cleaner and a house manager. Others work as and when needed. This has all come as a bit of shock. They took great pride in working for them and being at Frogmore.”

As we previously reported, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did their best to field questions about their major decision last week, which included information about maintaining their U.K. home for visits across the pond:

“Frogmore Cottage will continue to be the property of Her Majesty the Queen. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will continue to use Frogmore Cottage – with the permission of Her Majesty The Queen – as their official residence as they continue to support the Monarchy, and so that their family will always have a place to call home in the United Kingdom.”

Royal readers will remember when the couple moved into the home last spring ahead of Archie Harrison‘s birth. At the time, it was estimated that the cost of renovations at the property was around £2.4 million. Headlines bashed the pair for such a pricey project on the taxpayer’s dime, largely blaming it on Meg (of course). In the newly published Q&A, they addressed the controversy:

“The refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, the Grade-2 listed building in Windsor Home Park was funded by Her Majesty The Queen through the Sovereign Grant, reflecting the Monarchy’s responsibility to maintain the upkeep of buildings with historical significance. Expenses related to fixtures, furnishings, and fittings at the official residence – which is owned by Her Majesty the Queen – were funded privately by The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

Although the pair state their intentions of holding onto the property as “a place to call home,” some skeptics aren’t so sure. A second insider shared with the publication:

“Outside of anything that is being decided between the private offices [the nerve centres of royal operations] and the British and Canadian governments this week, no-one here believes that the duchess will ever really return to the UK in a meaningful way.”

What do U think about all this, Perezcious readers?? Let us know (below) in the comments!!
