Another day, another Thomas Markle story in the news.
The 74-year-old father of the newly-crowned Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle is at it again — but this time, at least it appears he realizes his behavior put him behind the eight-ball in ever having a relationship with his daughter again.

A source reportedly close to Thomas spoke to the Sunday Express over the weekend, and shared some important details about Thomas’ state of mind and motivation for reconciling with his daughter.
As Meghan and Prince Harry are rumored to be planning a U.S. west coast trip soon too, the source reveals Thomas has an idea for it (below):
“First, he intends to apologize to them both, face to face, for some of the ill-considered things he has said and done. Then, more than anything, he wants to hug his daughter and tell her how very proud he is of her and how much he loves her. He wanted so much to walk her down the aisle and give her away on her magical big day and he’s always going to be bitterly upset and frustrated that instead he had to stay in bed following heart surgery.”
Yeah, no kidding…

But the source wasn’t done there, adding that Thomas is deeply unhappy with how he’s been portrayed in the media and more — and he knows that because of it, this possible west coast swing may be his best bet at ever seeing Meghan again (below):
“He hates that the world perceives him and some of Meghan’s other relatives as ‘trailer trash’ folk trying to cash in on her happiness. But all he really cares about is letting her know how much he loves her and reopening the door that has slammed shut between them. He’s praying either Meghan or Harry or a member of their staff reach out to him to arrange a private meeting when they come to America. He sees this as his last real chance of making amends and re-establishing contact with his daughter before that door closes forever. He’s 74 and desperate for his final years to be happy and peaceful.”
Hmm…
We’ll see about all that. Thomas has retired to northern Mexico, and while it’s doubtful Meghan and Harry would go there, perhaps there’s always a shot they’ll relent, and reach out to him about coming to see them somewhere in California.
Or… perhaps this is just another day of Thomas Markle planting seeds in the media without any real idea how to get what he (apparently) wants — his daughter back in his life.
