Meghan Markle and her kids may no longer be joining Prince Harry on his trip back to the UK.
Royal insiders have claimed the decision is based on security concerns after the Duke of Sussex was alerted he won’t be receiving taxpayer-funded security. But new insiders claim that’s NOT the full story!
An insider SLAMMED the narrative, telling Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack on Monday:
“Meghan genuinely thought this would be her big moment. She wanted to remind everyone she’s still royal and generate goodwill. Instead, she walked straight into another wave of criticism.”

It’s especially disappointing for Meg since she thought this would be her chance for a big comeback. She’s even been promoting her lifestyle brand As Ever a lot more lately in the lead-up to the July visit. Another source doubled down:
“She expected a royal homecoming. Instead, it became another PR battle. People were questioning the motives before the family had even packed a suitcase.”
While those close to Harry have blamed security concerns for the possible change of plans, insiders claim he knew he wouldn’t receive automatic protection when the trip was planned. This was ALWAYS a possibility! And therefore, it’s likely not the main reason for the sudden switch. A palace source said:
“Security is the public explanation. Harry knew the security situation long before these plans came together. The backlash is what really changed the plan. Meghan saw the reaction and decided she didn’t want to walk back into that storm. Harry still wants to go, but she’s made it clear she doesn’t.”
Oof.
That sucks for Harry, who was about to reunite his whole family with his dad, King Charles III, for the first time in YEARS. Too bad!
