Meghan Trainor's Father Hospitalized In Stable Condition After Being Struck By Car While Walking

UPDATE, February 23, 11:24 a.m. PT — We’re happy to report Meghan Trainor is now by her father’s side as he recovers from this scary incident.

Also… ET is now reporting that the incident — previously reported by multiple outlets as a hit-and-run accident — was not that at all, as both the car and driver involved remained on scene the entire time after the incident. So that’s theoretically good, at least, as hopefully everyone involved will be cooperative with the cops and all that.

Still, it could’ve been so much worse. Ugh!

Wishing the very best for Meghan Trainor‘s father on a full recovery — this is SO scary…

Gary Trainor was walking across a busy street on foot in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles on Friday night when he was apparently hit by a car. He was transported to a local hospital immediately, where he was admitted to the emergency room in stable condition.

According to sources close to the family who spoke to TMZ about the incident, Trainor was walking across “a busy street” in the Valley when he was hit by the car. It’s unclear the exact situation or set-up, but thankfully it sounds like his injuries were such that he will recover from them in time, even through the scary ordeal.

The media outlet is also reporting that the incident appears to be a hit-and-run issue, with no official word on the whereabouts of the driver, or a description of the car that struck Trainor. Law enforcement has not commented publicly about the matter, either, so it’s unclear what’s going on with any investigation into that component of the event; LAPD did not release a comment to People when they asked for confirmation about this incident, either.

This is big news for Meghan, of course, as the star is very, very close to her father. He mentored her to become the performer we see worldwide today thanks to his own impressive musical background, and he’s also even worked in production on several of her songs recently. They have been close for her entire career and, in some ways, with his background on multiple instruments, she wouldn’t be the performer she is today without his longtime mentorship and guidance, even from a young age.

Meghan and Gary — or ‘GT’ as she refers to him — were together live on stage as recently as last month, ironically, when the elder Trainor put together a rousing piano performance on The Voice UK, where Meghan is a judge on the reality TV competition show.
