On Sunday, Mel B shocked fans when she appeared on The X Factor U.K. with bruises and scratches on her face and skin. She was also not wearing her wedding ring.

Earlier in the week, the reality TV judge missed Thursday’s taping as she was rushed to the hospital and had to be replaced with former judge Tulisa Contostavlos.
Fans took to social media to voice speculation on whether the former Spice Girl‘s hospital visit and then tarnished appearance had anything to do with her husband Stephen Belafonte. They even went so far as to suggest that he physically abused her.
Having had enough, the film producer went on Twitter to squash rumors.
According to him:
Belafonte credited Mel’s hospital visit to an illness.
