We bet a lot of parents with teens can relate to this story!
In an interview with People Magazine, Melissa Rivers revealed how her 15-year-old son Cooper Endicott is coping with Joan Rivers‘ death now that he’s a full-fledged teenager. Coop was just 13-years-old when his grandmother passed away in 2014 from a surgery gone wrong.

For those who don’t know, the teen was especially close to his beloved grandma. The boy even lived with Ms. Rivers for an extended period of time after M.R. divorced his father John Endicott in 2003.
Now that C.E. is a little bit older, his momma reveals he’s handling the comedienne’s death as any typical teenager would:
“He misses her, but he has moved into the typical teenage phase of pulling it out as a weapon.”
A “weapon”? Sounds interesting…
The 48-year-old went on to explain that Cooper will try to use the sad situation to his advantage, saying:
“He’ll say, ‘I can’t believe you won’t let me go to Coachella, grandma would’ve let me!’ [I’m] like, ‘No she wouldn’t have. And if she did, she would’ve gone with you and embarrassed you’.”
Ha! We won’t doubt J.R. would have gleefully embarrassed her grandson for a second! It’s totally something the jokester would have done.
All teenage drama aside, we’re glad to learn that Melissa has settled the malpractice suit against the doctor who unsuccessfully operated on Joan. We imagine that’s a big weight off her shoulders.
