Meredith Vieira’s husband has sadly passed away.
It’s with heavy hearts we report that Richard Cohen has died at 76 years old. The news was announced on Tuesday’s episode of Today, where Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie emotionally paid tribute to the accomplished journalist and relayed a message from Meredith. Hoda shared:
“Richard Cohen died on Christmas Eve surrounded by his family and love.”
Richard was diagnosed with MS at age 25, and battled it for 51 years. He also fought colon cancer twice.

Hoda continued:
“Meredith did say that all of the kids came around Thanksgiving because they were concerned they were going to lose him early, but instead they got a glorious month with their dad.”
Whoa, how special. Samantha added:
“And a new grand baby [Meredith] said, which just added so much life.”
Aw, so nice for the family. The former Today host and Richard were married for 38 years and share sons Benjamin, 36, Gabriel 34, as well as daughter Lily, 32. Samantha went on:
“She’s in really good spirits, she was such a beautiful and devoted wife to Richard, and he adored Meredith […] They were the most fun and entertaining, irreverent, cool couple you could hang out with. […] We love you, Meredith.”
