Today marks the ninth anniversary of Michael Jackson‘s 2009 death.
Like any high-profile celebrity death, there are no shortage of theories about how it was completely staged. And like any good conspiracy, theorists say the proof is in an old episode of The Simpsons!
The 1991 episode guest starred MJ as a mental patient who believes he is Michael Jackson. After he’s taken in by Homer, Bart spreads the news about the family’s famous guest, prompting press and crowds to flock to the Simpsons’ home.
After the whole thing is revealed to be a hoax, the news reaches the papers with the headline “Michael Jackson Hoax” — which theorists believe could be a nod to MJ’s so-called “staged death” almost two decades later.
Fans think this theory has credibility given The Simpsons‘ history with predicting major world events. Too bad the show never tackled some of these other crazy celeb conspiracies…
