Miley Cyrus isn’t done bashing the House of Mouse just yet!
In a candid interview with Elle Magazine, she accused Disney of paying her a very low salary during her 2006-2011 stint on Hannah Montana.

While the singer and her poppa Billy Ray Cyrus have called out the network before, this is the first time Miley has complained about her preteen earnings publicly. We guess it’s true that the first cut is the deepest!
Speaking on her sh*tty financial situation with Disney, the 23-year-old explained:
“I did not grow up spoiled in any way. I just wanted to be on TV. I mean, at one point├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥they’ll probably kill me for saying it├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥I was probably the least paid person on my cast because I didn’t know any better. I was just like, ‘I can be on Disney! Yeah, I want to do it!'”
Damn! It’s crazy to think the outspoken girl was so underpaid considering the show gave Disney it’s highest premiere ratings ever (5.1 million viewers) while the Hannah Montana movie grossed $31 million at the box office its opening weekend. Not to mention all the merchandise and branding that was born from the series!
What’s even crazier about those impressive numbers is Miley’s reported low earnings during the series — turns out girl wasn’t lying about being underpaid!

According to a report from 2010, the star earned $15K for each episode which is NOT a hefty salary when you consider the show’s massive earnings. In addition, child actor Angus T. Jones made $250K for each episode of Two & A Half Men. It’s a pretty staggering comparison despite the wildly different demographics of the shows.
Luckily for the Tennessee native, she and her family learned their lesson following the Hannah Montana salary debacle:
“My name was Miley on my show, but I didn’t own my name├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥we didn’t think about that. Like, ‘Yeah, you can use my name on your show, sure!’ My mom started understanding how many people take advantage of a child, so she hired smart people to protect me in that way. I’m happy that when I was younger, people protected me and put me in a position where I can now control my music.”
Well, all you can do is learn from your mistakes. We’re glad the Cyrus fam smartened up.
