Hannah Montana taught Millie Bobby Brown how to speak American

Millie Bobby Brown enrolled in a top-notch acting program to perfect her faux American accent: the School of Hannah Montana!

The Stranger Things star was a guest on Miley CyrusInstagram series Bright Minded: Live With Miley on Monday, where she revealed that the beloved Disney Channel sitcom helped her learn how to speak in an American accent for US-based roles.

The 16-year-old actress told her 27-year-old idol:

“The only way I got my American accent was by watching Hannah Montana.”

Miley, who played the titular pop star in the hit series, laughed while saying:

“I’m surprised you don’t have a country accent!”

MBB went on to confess she was something of a Hannah Montana superfan back in the day, adding:

“I was obsessed with [Hannah Montana]. I was actually just going through my camera roll and I saw a video of me in a cowboy hat and I was learning [Hoedown Throwdown]. Full-on knew every single dance move.”

Looking forward to seeing that #TBT post on Insta!

As it turns out, Miley’s character didn’t just entertain Millie: she inspired the Brit to become an actress herself! The teen starlet told the Wrecking Ball singer:

“I wanted your job. I didn’t know how to get your job but I was like, ‘I want to be like Hannah Montana. I don’t know how to do it.’ … And then I realized it was an actual job. And I was like, ‘Oh, I want to do that, that sounds fun!’ I didn’t even know you could get money for it. I was like, ‘I’ll do it for free!’”

Ah, the mark of a true artist… or child!

Millie went on to tell Miley about how life has changed since becoming a star thanks to her Netflix series, revealing that she purposely surrounds herself with people who keep her grounded.

She explained:

“I can’t be around people that’ll just tell me what I want to hear. That’s wrong. That’s what my family have taught me, and my family just put me in my place: make my bed, do my laundry, clean up after myself… It sounds ridiculous, but some people in the industry, they feel like they’re invincible and they’re not. We’re all humans.”

In other words: nobody’s perfect, you live and you learn it.
