Missing Man Found Dead In Planet Fitness Tanning Bed After 3 DAYS!

A missing Indiana man was found dead on Monday… In the same tanning bed he went in three days prior….

Planet Fitness staff protocols are being called into question after Derek Sink (pictured above, left inset) was discovered dead in one of the chain’s Indianapolis locations. Derek’s family told WTHR he went to the gym to use the tanning bed on Friday, but never returned. So they filed a missing persons report which eventually led cops to find him in the tanning bed (not pictured above). But not before other gym members took notice…

Elizabeth Len told the outlet:

“I was kind of sniffing trying not to look crazy but I was like, ‘Something smells really awful here.”

That’s messed up… That means for THREE days, no staff members even checked the room — let alone cleaned the tanning bed. They were seemingly so oblivious to it, the location remained open the entire time he was dead in there! WTF! Elizabeth told the outlet:

“The first thing that kind of went off in my head was lack of attention from the staff members at Planet Fitness, which is pretty disappointing because maybe it could have been prevented … The tanning bed has a door, I believe, but still, why are we not concerned that the tanning bed has been closed for three days, potentially?”

Seriously!

Derek’s family said he struggled with drug addiction and that a needle was found in the room with him. Apparently, he had on an ankle monitor which helped cops zero in on his location. WTHR spoke to the staff, but they declined to comment. However, a spokesperson for the fitness company said in a statement:

““We were deeply saddened by the passing of one of our members, and the franchise owner is working with the local authorities in their investigation. At Planet Fitness, we have robust operational brand protocols in place, as the safety and well-being of our members is our top priority. We are working closely with our local franchisee to ensure they are upholding those brand protocols.”
