About a month ago there were posters put up around New York City that said “Missing Unicorn”!
These posters were put up by New York based painter Camille Hixon. She explained that she is a pop artist and that she thought to herself, “if I could just make one person smile. I was thinking about ways to do that.”
She said that she wanted to think of something that could reach anyone at any age and she came up with unicorns.
She went around New York City and hung up 2,000 posters…which resulted in 350 phone calls.
Camille also set up a website called www.missingunicorn.com where people could post pictures of unicorns and chat about them!
Hixon also said that along with making people smile, she wanted them to notice the gaps in their own lives.
“I wanted some childlike play. I wanted people to go on a quest to find what they were missing.”
