Mitt Romney Has A Covert 'Lurker' Twitter Account Under The Alias Pierre Delecto, BTW

Mitt Romney just wants a safe space where he can publicly defend Mitt Romney in peace. That safe space is now ruined: world, meet the 72-year-old’s Twitter alias, Pierre Delecto.

The US Senator admitted he has a secret account in an interview published in the Atlantic on Sunday after the reporter asked if social media insults still bothered him.

The former presidential candidate said he had a burner account — “What do they call me, a lurker?” he asked the publication — as a way to stay in the mix online while keeping his presence on the down-low.

Romney didn’t give away his covert handle to the Atlantic — but he did reveal he’s “following 668 people,” including journalists, fellow politicians, athletes, and late-night comedians, like “the big redhead from Boston” whose name escaped him.

And, no, he doesn’t follow the Oversharer in Chief:

“He tweets so much.”

Thanks to some expert internet sleuthing from Slate’s Ashley Feinberg, Romney’s Fwitter page has since been exposed:

According to the outlet, Pierre Delecto has only tweeted 10 times in total. All of them have been replies to other tweets. Most of them have been in defense of Mitt Romney.

The account’s second tweet pointed out a Bloomberg reported had forgotten to include Mitt in a list of senators sticking up for North Carolina Senator Richard Burr. He wrote

“Romney too. Said to Post that he has confidence in Chairman Burr.”

LOLz! Exclusive!

In June, Pierre tweeted back at former CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien, who accused Romney of having an “utter lack of a moral compass.” He replied:

“Only Republican to hit Trump on Meuller [sic] report, only one to hit Trump on character time and again, so Soledad, you think he’s the one without moral compass?”

It’s unclear why Mitt chose the alias Pierre Delecto, which we can all agree sounds like the name of a softcore porn star.

But the politician isn’t embarrassed by his Twitter alias. When the Atlantic asked him about the account after the article was initially published, his only response was:

“C’est moi.”

While Pierre ensures Twitter has all its Romney-based facts in order, Mitt continues to denounce Donald Trump and his increasingly unpresidential behavior. He told the Atlantic

“I don’t look at myself as being a historical figure, but I do think these are critical times. And I hope that what I’m doing will open the way for people to take a different path… I’m not in the White House. I tried for that job; I didn’t get it. So all I can do from where I am is to say, ‘All right, how do we get things done from here?’”

Liking anti-Trump tweets from his lurker account is a good start, we guess!
