Sorry, Elvis! You’ve been bumped!
In the past year, Michael Jackson has made more money posthumously than any other deceased celebrity. In the year since his death, Michael’s music and merchandising has made a profit of $275 million, while his documentary This Is It made $250 million.
These numbers put Michael atop the list of the highest-earning dead celebs, surpassing the likes of John Lennon, Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien, Peanuts animator Charles Schulz and yes, even the King!
In fact, MJ’s earnings were greater than that of the total earnings of a dozen other stars who have passed on, including the four above.
That’s pretty good news for the debt collectors who are still sniffing around the Jackson estate. Maybe now the man can have a little peace!
