A young model in England died suddenly at her home last week. Days later, a coroner’s inquest has uncovered an upsetting cause of death.
Andreja Siaucilaite was just 20 years old when she died at her family’s home in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk last Tuesday. The young woman had modeled wedding dresses for local shops and various fashion outlets during her young life. Her image was aspirational for young women looking forward to their own nuptials. But sadly, she left the world far too soon.

According to The Sun, a coroner’s inquest held on Monday uncovered the four most chilling words for the model’s premature death. Senior coroner Jacqueline Lake revealed in her report that Siaucilaite died from “fatal pressure on neck.” Per the medical journal Advances in Human Biology, “fatal neck pressure may arise from hanging, ligature strangulation and manual strangulation.” The cause has not been put forth, but the implications here are heartbreaking.
Even worse, the inquest confirmed the model’s own mother was the person who found her body. Just awful.
For now, per that same news outlet, the full inquest has been adjourned until early next year. In the meantime, Andreja’s friends have set up a GoFundMe to help the late young woman’s mother with funeral costs. As of Monday morning, that page has brought in nearly £13,000 from mourners around the world. Tragically, the page itself also alludes to Andreja’s personal “battle” prior to her death, with fundraiser organizer Lucas Jordan writing:
“We are the closest friends of Andreja’s just trying to do whatever we can to help her mum out with all the associated costs that will come while trying to give Andreja the send of she truly deserves. Any donation small or large will help and any money left over after the funeral will be shared amongst the charities that have helped Andreja with her battle. Anyone that knows Andreja will know how much of an amazing person and how much of an inspiration she was to everyone who’s life she touched.”
Per The Sun and other British news outlets, tributes are already flooding in on the GoFundMe page and elsewhere across social media. Here are the words of just a few of the digital mourners who have made their heartbreak felt thus far:
“Absolutely heart breaking. A beautiful girl inside and out… forever young.”
“My thoughts and prayers are with Andreja Siaucilaite’s family and friends.”
“Such a sad day for lots of you…”
“Just remember we’re always here to help or have an ear to listen. A problem shared is a problem halved.”
“God bless you beautiful girl.”
