This is so messed up!
Usually we’re totally for the U.S. government, but we cannot abide by what they are doing in this particular case!
Sources are saying that 1,200 dogs who guarded U.S. troops during war have been euthanized by the U.S. military all because they were labeled as “too dangerous” to be adopted by civilians and/or be used in law enforcement.
Also, according to U.S. Air Force reports given to Congress, between 2001 and 2005 alone there have been 16 dogs that were killed because their military usefulness no longer served a purpose.
And out of 2,500 military dogs worldwide, only 400 of them are adopted each year because many of the canines are labeled with traits such as “repeated unprovoked aggressive action.├óΓé¼┬¥ Despite this — many families still want to adopt the heroic doggies, and yet there is no proper system for them to do so.
However a law that was passed in 2000 called Robby’s Law has many animal supporters optimistic about what the future holds for these pups. This law gives military dog handlers the first opportunity to adopt these life saving canines, and hopefully have them more adjusted to society while in their care.
We shouldn’t be killing dogs just because of the traumas they endured in countries such as Afghanistan and it’s harder for them to readjust to society back in the U.S.
In fact – we should be doing all we can to make sure these brave doggies get the proper care and homes they so desperately need!
