The Glee craze doesn’t appear to be dying down any time soon!
All sorts of fun stuff has been revealed courtesy of Billboard and we’re happy to share it with you!
The first order of business is that cast members of the hit show could potentially be getting their own record deals with Columbia!
Actress Lea Michele is thinking about doing a rock album as opposed to her usual Broadway fare. When asked if fellow cast members will be doing the same she replied:
“I have no idea, but all I know is that as soon as Amber Riley [who plays Mercedes] makes her album, I’m going to be the first one buying it.”
Also the Glee cast is going to be recording a special version of “Last Christmas” by Wham to be released as a single next month, but it won’t be used for the show.
Yes, we LOVE that idea!
Covers may not be the only thing on the menu for the show as songwriters have been contacting creator Ryan Murphy “to the point where it’s kind of embarrassing and ridiculous.”
As a result they are now penning an episode entitled “Original Song” where the Glee kids have to come up with their own original piece of music.
In reality, Diane Warren, the genius behind such songs as Aerosmith‘s I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing and Cher‘s If I Could Turn Back Time, will be writing two ballads for the show.
Exciting! But Murphy assures us that covers will still be the primary focus.
And it’s a good thing, too, because it’s probably the biggest draw of the show as proven by the phenomenal iTunes sales.
The Glee kids’ version of Journey‘s Don’t Stop Believin’ has been downloaded over half a million times and the Glee tracks as a whole have sold 1.8 million tracks total!
Solo careers, a Christmas single and original songs!?
We’re looking forward to more Glee in the new year for sure!
