Did one of Nancy Guthrie’s neighbors spot her kidnapper before she went missing?
Nearly three weeks before Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother disappeared from her Arizona home on February 1, Aldine Meister allegedly saw a “strange man” lurking around their normally quiet neighborhood — and it completely freaked her out! The neighbor spoke with NewsNation’s Brian Entin on Monday about the chilling incident when asked if there was “anything strange in the neighborhood” before Nancy vanished, saying:
“I did two weeks before. I have a picture window in my bathroom, and I see all the people walking by in the mornings.”

According to Aldine, the “strange guy” had “his hat down really low.” She added:
“He was kind of hunched over, not in, you know, walking or hiking gear. He was dressed in a kind of street clothing. So I thought that was weird, because that’s not normal.”
The situation stood out enough to her that she “said something to my husband and my mother.” Brian then questioned:
“And how often has something like that happened where it stood out to you enough to say something?”
To which Aldine shared:
“Not often at all. I see the same people. They’re people I know, my friends. Yeah, so no, I think once, maybe 12 years ago, I saw a strange guy.”
Aldine said she also told this information to the FBI “the day after they came here.” At this time, the cops haven’t addressed her claims. Taking Brian to the exact window where she spotted the suspicious individual roaming outside, she continued:
“So this is my window that I’m getting ready in the morning. And I saw him out there, so I couldn’t make out his face, although his hat was way down. And he was walking down the road. And I always see people, and I think, ‘Oh, that’s my friend, Nara, or that’s this person or that person.’ And I saw him, and I was like, ‘Oh, that guy doesn’t fit.’”
Whoa…
Brian questioned if she saw the man “around January 11,” and she replied:
“Yes. So my birthday is January 8, that’s why I remember it so well.”
Notably, law enforcement requested Ring camera footage from Nancy’s neighbors from that date, specifically between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and midnight. Was someone stalking the area? Neighbors did see a strange man miles away from Nancy’s house. Another neighbor also saw a suspicious unmarked van near her home days before she went missing. And then there’s this odd new detail. Aldine also noted the guy took a long, hard look at Nancy’s home while in the neighborhood:
“He was in kind of street clothes, not shoes that you’d walk in, and he had a baseball hat really low, and he was kind of hunched over, and he was kind of looking around, and he just didn’t fit. And he wasn’t going terribly quickly, like a normal person that’s getting exercise, he’s kind of going slowly. And when he walked by this street, he really took a long look at it. I noticed that.”
OMG! Something about the man ultimately alarmed her so much. Aldine concluded:
“It freaked me out, and I’m not one of those people to be super freaked out by that. But I was like, that’s weird.”
No suspects or persons of interest have been named in the case more than a month into the investigation. But hopefully, what Aldine told cops will soon lead them to finding Nancy’s kidnapper. Watch the entire interview (below):
