A former NASCAR driver and member of the historic Pistone family has died at 42.
The grandson of Tom “Tiger” Pistone, a legendary name in the stock car series, Chase Pistone has sadly passed away. His older brother and former racer himself, Nick Pistone, confirmed the sad news in a Facebook post on Monday:
“Well My young brother and best friend is gone. I’m broken hearted and don’t know if I’ll ever get over this. I miss you Chase already and I hope you are you are in a better place. I love you and I miss you so much already!!!!!!!”

The former racing driver competed in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the ARCA Menards Series over his career that spanned from when he was just a kid in 1999 to 2014. After his retirement from behind the wheel, he went on to own CP Inc, a company in which he built Legends and Late Model stock cars for various teams.
While no cause of death has been confirmed, racing legend Bubba Wallace suggested on X (Twitter) Monday night that he died by suicide:
“Been in the feels.. Woke up Sunday morning at 2am wide awake.. stumbled across an old tune that shook me. Only to realize later on at 2am was when the shooting happened in Austin.. A guy I raced with in legends cars took his life today.. Just a lot of damn sadness man.. Makes you think about life and how precious it is… That tune… Nutshell- Alice In Chains Love yall.”
