Natalie Portman wants everyone to know she did NOT date Moby!
According to his memoir Then It Fell Apart, released earlier this month, the DJ claimed the two shared a brief fling nearly 20 years ago.

However, in a statement to Harper’s Bazaar UK on Tuesday, the Vox Lux actress refuted his account, and even described the musician as “a much older man being creepy.”
She told the publication:

“I was surprised to hear that he characterised the very short time that I knew him as dating because my recollection is a much older man being creepy with me when I just had graduated high school. He said I was 20; I definitely wasn’t. I was a teenager. I had just turned 18. There was no fact checking from him or his publisher – it almost feels deliberate. That he used this story to sell his book was very disturbing to me. It wasn’t the case. There are many factual errors and inventions. I would have liked him or his publisher to reach out to fact check.”

Portman further said the two “hung out a handful of times” before she realized things “felt inappropriate.”

“I was a fan and went to one of his shows when I had just graduated. When we met after the show, he said, ‘Let’s be friends.’ He was on tour and I was working, shooting a film, so we only hung out a handful of times before I realised that this was an older man who was interested in me in a way that felt inappropriate.'”

In his book, the now-53-year-old said he met the thespian backstage after a show, where she allegedly began flirting with him.

“I was nervous, so I made small talk… ‘We’re going to New York in a few days,’ I said. ‘For the VMAs.’ She smiled again and looked straight into my eyes. ‘I’ll be in New York, too. Can we meet up?… This was confusing… I was a bald binge drinker who lived in an apartment that smelled like mildew and old bricks and Natalie Portman was a beautiful movie star. But here she was in my dressing room, flirting with me.'”

Though he said the pair attended the VMAs together, she eventually broke things off, much to his relief.

“For a few weeks I had tried to be Natalie’s boyfriend, but it hadn’t worked out… I thought that I was going to have to tell her that my panic was too egregious for me to be in a real relationship, but one night on the phone she informed me that she’d met somebody else. I was relieved that I’d never have to tell her how damaged I was.”

This isn’t the first time the South Side artist has spoken about his “relationship” with Portman.
Back in 2008, he told Spin they shared a “very brief affair” that made him the target of “nerd wrath.”
While referencing her role in the Star Wars universe as Padmé Amidala, he explained:

“You can’t date Luke Skywalker’s mom and not have them hate your guys.”
