Is Your Dog A Pessimist?

We sure hope Teddy isn’t!
According to researchers at the University of Bristol and University of Lincoln in the U.K., dogs that exhibit “separation-related behavior” (SRB) may be inherently pessimistic pooches. This behavior includes barking, destructive chewing and peeing and pooping when left alone.
We know a lot of dogs that behave this way!
Pessimistic dogs, the study says, may view most circumstance as bad and react accordingly, while optimistic dogs may not.
To help combat this, owners should train their dog to be optimistic – certain behaviors are rewarded with treats. Eventually, the dog will expect a treat for certain accomplishments. While it may not always be rewarded, your dog will certainly look forward to the possibility that a treat might be on the way!
We don’t think Teddy is pessimistic, he just seems too dayum happy to be anything by optimistic!
If you think your dog is a pessimist, look into it! You can correct this behavior!
