When we say “Tupac,” you say “Musical!” Us: “Tupac!!” You: “Mu-…wait…what?”
That’s right, the music of rapper/urban legend Tupac Shakur will hopefully be put to stage soon, as a workshop of the new musical Holler If Ya Hear Me is currently ongoing.
The musical, which hopes to hit Broadway by the 2013-2014 season, tells the story of two kids growing up in a present day industrial city, as they struggle to grow up, as well as fulfill their dreams.
The musical’s book will be provided by associate-director-turned-musical-playwright, Todd Kreidler, it will be directed by Kenny Leon, choreographed by the Tony Award-winning Wayne Cilento of Wicked fame, and produced by Max Bialystock Tupac’s mom Afeni Shakur producing.
We can’t wait to potentially see Ambitionz as a Ridah as a show-stopping finale performed by a tap dancing ensemble.
