It looks like the National Football League is getting in on the action for LGBT Pride Month!
The NFL Players Association recently announced they would be teaming up with One Team Shop to start selling a new line of t-shirts to show their support for the gay community!!
Each one features a rainbow-colored rendition of the NFLPA’s new logo as well as the name and number of several players who have spoken out about their excitement for the new products!
Oakland Raiders punter Chris Kluwe says:
“I am extremely proud to be a part of this collaboration between Athlete Ally and the NFLPA├óΓé¼Γäós One Team Shop to raise awareness both of Pride Month and the issue of tolerance and respect within the NFL itself. As players, we are role models to a wide variety of people, and this is a great way to send a message of empathy to those who love and watch the game. Also, I’m pretty stoked that people can buy something with my number on it.”
Ha! We’ll proudly wear your number any day, Chris!
Former linebacker Scott Fujita also spoke out, saying:
“This is about inclusion, acceptance and openness within our community. I know some guys look at it as political support or advocacy but I don’t. It is about respecting everyone in the community in which we live and recognizing that our country should be about the freedom that people have to live their lives.”
We couldn’t agree more!
As the biggest sporting league in the country, it’s extremely important for them to set an example and promote acceptance of EVERYONE, regardless of their sexuality!
The NFLPA also announced that proceeds from the t-shirts will be donated to Athlete Ally, an organization dedicated to thwarting homophobia in organized sports!
Way to go NFL! Now if you’ll excuse us, we have a Chris Kluwe shirt to buy! LOLz!
