Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of slain Hollywood legend Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom this week facing first-degree murder charges over their deaths, and the scene was as grim as you’d imagine.
When Nick arrived at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, reports claim he looked almost unrecognizable, sporting a buzz cut and scruffy facial hair. According to eyewitnesses inside the courtroom via Radar Online and others, Nick appeared deeply rattled as the gravity of the legal moment closed in around him.

As we’ve reported, perhaps the most startling development this week wasn’t Nick’s appearance or demeanor, though. It was the fact that his high-profile defense attorney Alan Jackson abruptly withdrew from representing Nick. In turn, that forced the judge to postpone the accused killer’s arraignment until February 23. Public defender Kimberly Greene has now stepped in to take over the defense.
Inside the courtroom, Nick spoke only twice. However, one courtroom eyewitness told Radar Online that the accused murderer appeared to be on the “verge of tears” during the hearing.
Whoa…
Nick did not enter a plea on the first-degree murder charges, considering his lawyer’s defection. But as we’ve previously reported, when waiving his right to a speedy trial, he told the judge:
“Yes, I agree, your honor.”
And then, when acknowledging the arraignment delay, Nick added:
“Uh, yeah, I agree.”
This case has been steeped in tragedy from the start. And judging by Nick’s apparent emotional state in court on Wednesday, it’s obvious just how heavy this whole situation is at this point.
