Megan Thee Stallion has spent most of the year trying to promote her concept of a “hot girl summer.” Now, she has a song to go with it — and it’s appropriately hot!
The 24-year-old Houston native released the bass-heavy track, aptly titled Hot Girl Summer, on Friday morning.
Sampling City Girls’ Act Up, the spicy single features vocals from Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign in between Megan’s own lyrics about juggling one’s hotness with the attention that comes with it.

Earlier this week, Nicki revealed she “fell in love” with the track upon hearing it, and decided to write a verse despite the fact she was losing her voice at the time. She explained on Twitter:
so true. I was right on the verge of losing my voice & it was mad late so I was already sounding like a man. But once I heard the song I fell in love. Wrote it b4 I went to sleep. None of that was planned. I had no idea meg was on live or that she would want to go live 2gthr♥️♥️ https://t.co/2eRiYTrOIc

The term “hot girl summer” has caught on like wildfire in recent months and has since exploded into the internet’s hottest meme. Now, Megan is in the process of trying to copyright it.
According to the artist, having a hot girl summer isn’t so much about physical hotness as it is about “women and men being unapologetically them, just having a good-ass time, hyping up their friends, doing you,” as she explained to The Root in June.
Thankfully, we now have the Hot Girl Summer anthem we deserve. Take a listen to the hot bop (above)!
