Call her by her name — her full name!!!
Nicki Minaj is obviously quite serious about locking things up with her man, ex-con Kenneth Petty, because according to reports out on Friday morning, she’s already officially taken his last name! That’s right — Nicki’s full legal name is reportedly now Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty!!!

According to TMZ, this all came about earlier this week at a Beverly Hills courthouse on the same day the couple picked up their marriage license. Nicki’s new, full, hyphenated name represents a big jump, to go and make things all official like that! But it’s just another sign the pair is VERY serious about being together… and they’re taking all the legal steps to get there!
Wedding In The Works?
Aside from the official name change, though, here’s what is really interesting: Nicki and Kenneth live in NYC full-time, so when she first announced she’d taken out a marriage license, pretty much everybody assumed the couple would do something in New York. Now, though, we know both the license and the name change occurred this week in Beverly Hills… which leads us to wonder: is something about to go down in Cali?! Or better yet: has something already gone down in secret????
Per TMZ, “several of Nicki’s close friends” flew into El Lay on Tuesday — the day after she and Petty picked up their license — and stayed in town “for less than a day” at a couple swanky hotels in WeHo before flying out again on Wednesday. Quickie marriage, anyone?! There have been pregnancy rumors floating around the couple… so perhaps they wanted to make things official??
If it hasn’t happened already, this coming weekend may be an option, too. Sources report Nicki’s long-time mentor Lil Wayne wiggled his way into a few days off from the Blink-182 tour to come to Los Angeles for something on Saturday and Sunday. No word on what he’ll be in town for, exactly, but the timing is interesting… though as far as Weezy is concerned, he’d probably be OK if he never went back out on tour, anyways! Ha!!!
Celeb schedules aside, we can’t help but feel like there’s something going down — or something already went down — between Nicki and Kenneth. These two have moved quickly despite courting lots of public controversy early in their relationship. Because of that, it’s very clear they will do what they want, and they don’t care what anyone else thinks. We wouldn’t put it past them to toss a surprise wedding into the mix!!!
