On this episode of when stupid mistakes happen to good people!!!
You’d think not many 17 year-old-boys want to go to prom with their 41 year-old track coach, but that’s exactly what happened at a small high school in Oregon!!!
Rocket scientist volunteer track coach Melissa Bowerman who just so happens to be the daughter-in-law of the late Bill Bowerman, co-founder of a shoe line you may have heard of, Nike, chose to accompany a kid to his high school prom because she felt bad he didn’t have anyone to go to with – and was struggling with bad grades.
Genius idea, right?!!
Well after dancing to a “couple” of songs, a chaperone noticed the odd pairing and called 5-0!!!
The police rolled up and conducted an investigation, but determined that no laws were broken.
Bowerman maintains that while taking the teen to prom was a HUGE “error judgment” nothing went on, and she’s totally innocent of any wrong doing.
In fact, the Bowermans are responsible for funding a “powerhouse program” which has helped the school build a new track, and provide uniforms for the team!!!
As a result of all this hoopla, the coach has been fired asked to “un-volunteer” from her position.
So sad for everyone involved, cause it seems like NO ONE wins.
What do U think about all this?!! Was she wrong for taking the boy to prom?!!!
