Dark things happen in this world, and we really wish that was never the case. We hope there’s a solution out there somewhere, because we refuse to believe that something like this is just a way of life.
Christopher Liggio of NJ fatally shot his wife Michelle, a beloved family doctor, at her medical office in Pennsauken. He then took his own life, because he is a coward who took something that was NOT his to take.
Michelle had recently filed for divorce from her husband, who occasionally worked in the office, and on Tuesday there was a disturbance reported at the location — a big enough one that a SWAT team was dispatched and nearby businesses went on lockdown.
The perimeter police maintained was held for nearly 30 minutes before they could safely get inside, and by that time it was too late.
Patients even kept arriving for appointments not knowing what had happened. Here’s what one of them said, after learning about Michelle’s murder:
“She didn’t just know me as a patient with physical ailments. She knew me as a human being. I thought I was going to have my doctor till I died.”
Many of the patients felt this way, saying that it was Michelle (along with her expertise) that made them feel much better once they left the office.
We can’t even begin to speculate about what was happening between these two, but we do know for a fact that one of them is a murderer, and the other is a victim. Violence is NEVER the answer.
Our hearts go out to Michelle’s family and friends, and the sons she tragically left behind.
