Noah Centineo Is NOT Sober Anymore...

Noah Centineo Sober Drinking Drugs

For everyone who was surprised to hear Noah Centineo was sober, well… he’s not.

The star of Netflix‘s hit rom com franchise To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before previously opened up about his past alcohol and drug use in a Harper’s Bazaar interview published in February.

That profile piece contained the line, written by the interviewer:

“It’s an exciting time for Centineo, who’s been traveling to Brazil and shooting promos with TATB leading lady Lana Condor, but he won’t be slamming champagne on the club floor anytime soon. Centineo has been sober for the last couple of years, following a wild period that started when he was 17 and ended the day before his 21st birthday.”

The thing is, it turns out that was actually a little misleading.

Noah spoke recently with Variety on their The Big Ticket with Marc Malkin podcast and added some helpful clarification. Regarding the public announcement of his sobriety, the 23-year-old says:

“I know that people were surprised, I know that people were supportive, which is nice.”

However… he isn’t sober. So to head off someone calling BS on his sobriety after spotting him having a beer in a bar next week or something, Noah explains:

“My relationship with sobriety is a little different. I got clean for a year, I just said, ‘I’m gonna take a year off.’ And I then went back to drinking.”

Well, as long as it was a healthy, conscious choice. We’d hate to think how the Internet would react to watching their boyfriend falling off the wagon.

In any case, Noah makes it clear he is sober in some ways, saying when he started drinking again he “left a lot in the past.”

Presumably he’s referring to the drug use he detailed in that Harper’s interview. He told the mag at the time he and his friends would often “take Molly and talk for five hours and like get to the bottom of some really deeply philosophical existential questions.” He also admitted to doing much more, saying:

“There wasn’t really much I wouldn’t do. I never, ever injected anything, which is good. I smoked a lot of things. I was really upset, man. It was a really dark time in my life.”

But now all of that is in the rear view. Noah says:

“There’s a lot that I don’t do anymore… But when I have to work, I cut out everything.”

He also quipped:

“Coffee is way better!”

Spoken like a real mature man — with a job! LOLz!

What do YOU think about Noah’s “sobriety”??
