This makes no sense!
The Obama administration filed an emergency request with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday to stop the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.
They feel the repeal “risks causing significant immediate harm to the military and its efforts to be prepared to implement an orderly repeal of the statute,” but the administration is not against the measure entirely.
WTF?!
“They are in a very bizarre position, frankly of their own making,” said legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin. If Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is reinstated, “the Obama administration would be responsible for that.”
The Pentagon has already begun advising recruiters that they can accept openly gay and lesbian candidates as long as they qualify under normal recruiting guidelines. Although sexual orientation is not discussed on the application.
The Obama administration argues that they need more time to work with the Pentagon to know how to implement the repeal.
Obama adviser David Axelrod said:
“This president has made a commitment, and it’s not a question of whether that program, whether that policy will change, but when. We’re at the end of a process with the Pentagon to make that transition, and we’re going to see it through.”
Riiiiight.
