Good news for Michelle Obama‘s hairstylist!
Johnny Wright has just landed a development deal for him to star in, what else, a “reality” show said to be either a “docusoap or a makeover series.”
Wright has signed a deal with 44 Blue. That’s the same company that produces other “reality” shows like Split Ends on the Style Network and L.A. Gang Unit on A&E.
Stephanie Drachkovitch, 44 Blue’s exec vp, said she discovered Wright as she was looking for a reality host for one of her shows. Saying, “There aren’t many people of color doing makeover and beauty shows. We figured there’s got to be somebody out there with a mainstream clientele, but who brings a different point of view.”
Wright, who’s originally from Chicago but currently lives in Los Angeles, has also worked on Vivica A. Fox and Rebecca Gayheart.
According to Drachkovitch, she was impressed with Johnny’s personality before she knew of his connection to the Obamas.
Riiiight.
She then added, “We fell in love with him before we knew. There’s a lot of hairstylists out there who do celebrities, but they can’t center a show.”
As for Michelle Obama, Drachkovitch says “She has certainly emerged as a style icon. She has everyday beauty mixed with elegance. It certainly raises (Wright’s) profile.”
Forget Wright. Kim Vo should get his own show!
