Jennifer Morrison Announces She's Leaving Once Upon A Time -- And Fans Are NOT Living Happily-Ever-After!

It was only a matter of time before Swan flew the coop.
Jennifer Morrison was the heart and soul of Once Upon A Time since it’s pilot episode six seasons ago.

But it looks like if the show continues to live on through Season Seven, it will have to do so without Emma Swan — because the actress just announced she will be leaving the ABC fantasy series!
Yup! The 38-year-old took to Instagram — the day after fans were enchanted with a musical episode showing Emma and Captain Hook finally getting hitched — to deliver some sinister news to fans, writing:

“As I reached the end of my 6 year contract on Once Upon A Time, I was faced with a significant decision. ABC, Eddy Kitsis, and Adam Horowitz very generously invited me to continue as a series regular. After very careful consideration, I have decided that creatively and personally, it is time for me to move on. Emma Swan is one my favorite characters that I have ever played. My 6 years on Once Upon A Time has changed my life in the most beautiful ways. I am absolutely blown away by the passion and commitment of the Oncer fans. I am so honored to have been a central part of such a special show.”

Wow. This is the kind of abandonment that creates villain origin stories, Jen!
Thankfully, Morrison said she’d appear in one last episode if the show gets renewed — so, hopefully we won’t have to say farewell to the beloved heroine in next week’s dramatic, two-hour season finale.
Of course, the real question is if we’ll also have to say goodbye to Morrison’s on screen OTP Colin O’Donoghue, too — ABC can’t be THAT evil, can they!?
See what the fans had to say about the shocking announcement (below)!

Yikes! It’s gonna be one dark fall if the hit series returns without the savior!

As I move on to other creative endeavors, I will continue to attend the fan conventions whenever my professional schedule allows. I always look forward meeting the fans. If ABC Network does in fact order a season 7, I have agreed to appear in one episode, and I will most certainly continue to watch ONCE UPON A TIME. The creativity of the show runners has always inspired me, and I cannot wait to see the ways that they continue to develop and reinvent the show. #Onceuponatime #EmmaSwan #UglyDucklingsA post shared by jenmorrisonlive (@jenmorrisonlive) on May 8, 2017 at 4:48am PDT
