Guess Oprah Winfrey doesn’t own the rights to everything after all…or does she?!
The media mogul is still in the middle of a 3+ year-long lawsuit over the phrase “Own Your Power” – which motivational entrepreneur Simone Kelly-Brown is claiming to have ownership over.
Yes, you heard that right – a legal battle over three words used in her magazine and at some events. LOLz!
Did we mention this already went to court, Oprah won, the ruling was appealed, and now it’s back?!
Simone’s lawyers recently filed documents asking for a two-week extension of the discovery period, hoping to nab Lady O’s private journals – because she believes they could be hiding important secrets that could aid her failing case!
After O examined the journals, her counsel insisted:
“Ms. Winfrey examined her journals and there is nothing relevant. We request that the Court deny the Plaintiff├óΓé¼Γäós request for an extension of discovery ├óΓé¼┬ª”
Not sure what she thinks Oprah could be stowing away in her personal diary about the catch phrase in question – but Simone was denied access by the courts, so we’ll never know!
Although this legal saga is still happening, we have a feeling it’s almost on its way out…
