It’s true! Oprah wants to make the world a healthier place, and plans on doing it one organic produce at a time!
Actually, it’s probably a bunch of organic produce all at once… whatever, you get our point! We told you she’s turning about 16 acres on her 1,000-acre property on Maui into farmland, and as it turns out she’ll be growing crops on an island that imports roughly 90 percent of its food — so it’ll help IMMENSELY!
She had this to say:
├óΓé¼┼ôWe realized if we could grow delicious food ourselves, we could share it. I grew up with a grandmother who was always growing things├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥everything that we ate came from our own little one acre, and to be able to have a full circle moment like this, not in Mississippi but in Maui, is fantastic.”
This isn’t some dream, either. She’s hired the natural resource management group Bio-Logical Capital to help oversee the harvest, which includes more than 100 species of fruits, vegetables, and herbs!
And, like we said, the cool thing is that she’s just straight up giving away the crops so far, which is about 145 pounds a week from just ONE ACRE! They’re going to restaurants and charities for FREE! That harvesting is going so well that the plans to actually sell are going to come later once the full 16 acres are in use!
She’s hasn’t come up with a brand name, but that’s okay, we just came up with one for her: Oprah’s Orgasmic Organics!
