Oscar Pistorius' Prosecutors Want Him To Get 10 Years In Prison For Shooting His Girlfriend! But His Defense Has A Much Different Expectation!

And this is why we have judges, to make the hard decisions.
Olympian Oscar Pistorius has been on trial all week after being convicted of shooting and killing his girlfriend last Valentine’s Day.
Judge Thokozile Masipa‘s ruling will be handed down next week, but until then, the sides are definitely at odds.
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel thinks Pistorius should get at least 10 years, saying, “The minimum term that society will be happy with.”

But Oscar’s side is saying because of the emotional distress he was under at the time, he should just get three years of occasional house arrest and no jail time. They also added that he’s suffered financially and emotionally already, and that as a double amputee he would experience too much duress in prison.
In all, the former Olympian could get up to 15 years in prison!
There’s been a lot of evidence presented in this long trial, so we’re sure that the judge will make the right decision next week.
