So Much For That -- The Oscars WILL Hand Out Awards During The Show, After All!

Oscars Awards Televised

Oops! In the biggest mistake since announcing La La Land — man, didn’t have to dig far for that one — the Motion Picture Academy announced earlier this week the decision to give out certain Oscars during commercial breaks.
After a ton of backlash from every corner of Hollywood, the Academy reversed course and said ALL winners will be named during the live telecast on Sunday, February 24.

The officers of the Academy’s board of governors shared the reversal decision today, releasing a statement (below):

“The Academy has heard the feedback from its membership regarding the Oscar presentation of four awards – Cinematography, Film Editing, Live Action Short, and Makeup and Hairstyling. All Academy Awards will be presented without edits, in our traditional format. We look forward to Oscar Sunday, February 24.”

Good!
The Motion Picture Academy may still look to cut time in the telecast elsewhere — goodness knows there are plenty of options in the hours-long show — but at least cutting time won’t come at the expense of giving winners their well-earned spotlight!
Good decision, Perezcious readers?!
