Several dresses and outfits owned by the late Princess Diana will be up for auction in London this June.
Of the more desirable items up for grabs is that black taffetta Emanuel dress which Diana wore at the age of 19 when she made her first official appearance with her then fiance, Prince Charles.
Experts are estimating that dress alone might go for over £50,000!
Also up for auction is that famous chiffon blouse Diana wore for her engagement photo, estimated to bring in about £15,000, along with sketches of her wedding dress.
Even that famous black dress she wore to a charity ball at Goldsmiths’ Hall in the City back in 1981 is going on sale.
The items are being sold by designers David and Elizabeth Emanuel who often created couture pieces for the Princess. Says Elizabeth:
“The transformation was incredible. She arrived [to try it on] looking like the nursery school teacher she was, but now she looked like a movie star.
We hadn’t considered the fact that when Diana bent over – as she would have to do when getting out of the car – she would show quite a lot of cleavage. We just thought she looked fabulous.”
Maybe the royal family will buy the outfits? Doubt it.
