The Puerto Rican singer Ozuna is NOT a person of interest in rapper Kevin Fret‘s January murder — so says the singer’s manager after being interviewed at length by the state prosecutor for the Puerto Rico Department of Justice.
Vicenta Saavedra, Ozuna’s manager, was interviewed on April 9 by the prosecutors assigned to Fret’s murder case, according to a report out this week in Billboard. Afterwards, Saavedra spoke to the press about the interrogation, and the current status of the case.

According to Saavedra, the prosectuor — Betzaida Quinones — said after the interrogation that neither Ozuna nor his manager are persons of interest in the murder case. That claim hasn’t been verified by Quinones in the press; nevertheless, Saavedra was quick to use it to claim innocence in the January 10 street attack that killed Fret in the city of San Juan.
As you’ll recall from our earlier reporting, Fret was killed back in January while riding his motorcycle in the large Puerto Rican city. He was just 24 years old. Two weeks later, reports came out that the rapper had allegedly been extorting Ozuna before he was killed — apparently, Fret had possession of a pornographic video tape of Ozuna from when he was a minor, thereby producing a possible motive for Ozuna’s alleged involvement in the murder.
However, Saavedra is adamant now that prosecutors are not looking at either the singer, or the manager, and Fret’s murder investigation has taken a different turn.

Not everybody believes the manager, though; earlier this month, on the Puerto Rican internet radio show Conexión Samantha Love, Fret’s mother Hilda Rodriguez said she believes Ozuna and Saavedra ARE responsible for her son’s death, though she didn’t produce any public evidence to back up her claim.
On the show, Rodriguez said (below):
“The only thing Kevin asked of him was to help him sing as a featured artist on a song. Ozuna said, ‘No, I’m going to give you money and I want you to send me the link so that I can erase the video. But, my son [Fret] wasn’t the only person that had the video.”
And at the time, Ozuna himself acknowledged the apparent pornographic video and apologized for it, though he downplayed his role in it some and tried to minimize the issue surrounding Fret’s death.
He told the Puerto Rican media in a statement (below):
“What happened was a mistake of the past. Like many young people, I made a mistake, fueled by ignorance. Today, I’m not only sorry for what happened, but I condemn it. That’s why I looked for help and I am certain everything will be cleared. Likewise, I’m following the process and am always willing to collaborate with authorities to prevent the evil that resulted from this big mistake.”
Interesting…
More recently, according to Billboard, Ozuna has opted not to publicly discuss the murder or his possible involvement, citing “respect” for Fret and his family as a good enough reason to be quiet about it.
