Parents Of Missing Sudiksha Konanki Ask Police To Declare Her Dead 11 Days Into Investigation -- Even Though No Body Has Been Found

Sudiksha Konanki’s parents are ready to give up on her investigation.

As we’ve been following, the University of Pittsburgh junior went missing on March 6 while on a trip to the Dominican Republic with a group of fellow female students. She was last seen in security footage with American man Joshua Riibe, whom she had met at the Riu Republica Hotel in Punta Cana on the vacation. The two were heading to the beach at around 4:00 a.m., and he’s believed to be the last person to see Sudiksha.

During a recent questioning with Dominican Republic police, he claimed that after a night of drinking, he and the missing woman went into the ocean and got swept out to sea after a big wave hit them. He claimed as a former lifeguard, he was able to safely get them back to shore, where he last saw Sudiksha. And she’s been missing without a trace ever since.

Authorities have yet to find a body less than two weeks into their search, but her parents are reportedly ready to close the door on this nightmare.

On Monday, Dominican Republic National Police spokesperson Diego Pesqueira revealed that Sudiksha’s family sent them a letter asking for an official declaration of death, according to NBC News.

Wait, really?? We mean, this investigation is far from over! There are still so many questions unanswered! And like we said, no body has been found as of yet! Is this not jumping the gun a bit? We understand how devastating and traumatic this must all be for the family, but things aren’t over!

ABC News also confirmed the report, adding that in their letter, the 20-year-old’s parents acknowledged the legal procedures that must be followed to fulfill their request — and that they’re willing to work together to provide all necessary legal documentation. A source added they also acknowledged in the letter that there’s no suspicion of foul play in their perceived death of their daughter.

Wow… There hasn’t been any public declaration of suspicion in Sudiksha’s death, but the man she was with prior to her death is still being actively questioned.

Do you think they’re rushing things, Perezcious readers?? Should they let the investigation play out? It’s hard to tell grieving parents what they should or shouldn’t do, but this just seems too soon…
