The shock this put us through!! Goodness!!!
If you opened X (Twitter) anytime in the last several hours, you likely saw a post from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department that stopped you in your tracks — only to break your heart all over again!
Late on Thursday, the police department behind the search for Nancy Guthrie shared a statement that simply said:
“Update: Nancy has been located”
OMG!!!!

A LOT of people assumed they were talking about Nancy Guthrie — the most famous missing Nancy right now!
A photo of a missing person’s bulletin was attached with the word “located” written in large red lettering across an image of an elderly woman with brown hair — though the words largely blocked her face, making it hard to see her features. So, yeah, if you looked quickly, you’d think they were talking about Nancy Guthrie!
Upon closer inspection, the Nancy was listed as “Nancy Radakovich” — not Savannah Guthrie‘s dear mother. But you really had to go searching for that! And that has pissed off the internet!
Reacting to the “tone deaf” post, outraged users blasted the department, writing:
“DONT EVER PLAY WITH US LIKE THAT AGAIN”
“You knew what you were doing with that title. What the hell!”
“What an embarrassing police department to do that. Nice that they found her though, but wow.”
“You need to fire your social media manager. This was so out of touch!”
“Are you kidding? So unprofessional! You couldn’t list the last name?”
“did yall think before you posted just ‘Nancy’ so it’d show up on everyone’s feed?”
“Wow, what an awful way to get clicks. Couldn’t use her full name??? Just gets worse and worse with this Sheriffs Dept out there.”
“I LITERALLY THOUGHT THIS WAS NANCY GUTHRIE. THE WAY MY HEART JUST DROPPED!”
“My heart skipped a beat thinking it was Nancy Guthrie!”
