Prince Charles Is 'Out Of Self-Isolation' After Contracting Coronavirus

Prince Charles is on the mend after contracting the coronavirus!

Less than a week after the initial announcement, a spokesperson revealed on Monday the latest update about Queen Elizabeth II‘s son:

“Clarence House has confirmed today that, having consulted with his doctor, the Prince of Wales is now out of self-isolation.”

As you’ll recall, early Wednesday morning a Clarence House spokesperson confirmed the news of the 71-year-old’s diagnosis:

“The Prince of Wales has tested positive for Coronavirus. He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual.”

We’re so glad he’s doing better so quickly!!

Luckily, his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall was not ill:

“The Duchess of Cornwall has also been tested but does not have the virus. In accordance with Government and medical advice, the Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland. The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire where they met the criteria required for testing. It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”

Despite being separated, the twosome remained in good spirits. A palace source explained to People:

“Both of them remain in good spirits. There is a sense of keeping calm and carrying on. The duchess is concerned for him but she is aware of his own good spirits and therefore is keeping a close eye on him and mindful of her own situation. She is upbeat.”

It came as a pretty big surprise for him to have contracted the novel virus, especially when he got a few laughs out of us all when he showed off his alternative “namaste” greeting while attending Commonwealth Day services with his family:

While Charles and Camilla are resting (separately, we assume) at Birkhall, their home on the Queen’s Balmoral estate in Scotland, the 93-year-old matriarch remains in good health and high spirits! A statement from Buckingham Palace at the time of Charles’ diagnosis reads:

“Her Majesty The Queen remains in good health. The Queen last saw The Prince of Wales briefly after the investiture on the morning of 12th March and is following all the appropriate advice with regard to her welfare.”

We can only hope the same goes for Prince Philip, who officially retired from royal duties in 2017, but has been seen looking noticeably frail in recent months. With his granddaughter Princess Beatrice‘s April wedding now on hold out of precaution, it’s unclear when the next time we will the royal patriarch.

Here’s hoping Charles makes a full recovery ASAP and no other members of the royal fam contract it!!
