Happy holidaze from Prince William and Kate Middleton!

While Meghan Markle and Prince Harry soak up the California sun, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are cooking in the kitchen with Mary Berry. The couple is appearing in A Berry Royal Christmas, a holiday cooking and charity special hosted by the iconic British chef. It’s the pairing we never knew we needed!!

The momma of three revealed something positively ADORABLE about her one-year-old son Prince Louis to the former Great British Bake Off host:

“One of Louis’ first words was ‘Mary’ because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf…And children are really fascinated by faces, and your faces are all over your cooking books and he would say ‘That’s Mary Berry’…so he would definitely recognise you if he saw you today.”

Obviously, life for this family of five is not anywhere near normal, but the 37-year-old shared she does enjoy cooking for her brood:

“Yes, I really enjoy it. Again, for them to be creative, for them to try and be as independent as possible with it.”

But what about her other half? Is he whipping up meals in the kitchen, too? She added, reflecting on their days in college:

“He sometimes does. He’s very good at breakfast. In university days he used to cook all sorts of meals trying to impress me.”

So cute!!

On a more somber note, the future King also opened up (below) about the profound impact his late mother Princess Diana had on his passion for philanthropic work. Speaking with Mary while working at the Passage Charity, which supports the local homeless community, he reflected:

“It was one of the first places I came to, actually. And I must have been between eight and 10, something like that. It had a profound impact on me. My mother knew what she was doing with it. She realized it’s very important when you grow up, especially in the life we grew up in, that you realize that life happens beyond palace walls. And you see real people struggling with real issues.”

Such a wonderful way to honor her legacy.

He also “absolutely” hopes to instill this passion for giving back in his own children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Louis. Though he and Kate have yet to take their children to official charity events just yet, William explained how he tries engaging the older two during their school drop-offs:

“I know it sounds a little bit contrite, but on the school run already — bear in mind they’re six and four — whenever we see anyone who’s sleeping rough [homeless] on the streets, I talk about it and I point it out and I explain why, and they’re all very interested. They’re like, ‘Why is that person? Why can’t they go home?'”

He also opened up about Miz Middleton’s passion for mental health. As we’ve previously reported, it has been a top priority for the core four, who voiced a PSA together earlier this year as part of their work:

“She was the one who linked all the mental health stuff together. She realized that my work, Harry’s work, and her work were all headed in different directions but all dealing with mental health. And she was the one who joined the dots and said, ‘We need to tackle mental health.'”
