Princess Catherine is in “remission”!
Taking to X (Twitter) on Tuesday, the Princess of Wales shared the wonderful news after visiting The Royal Marsden, the hospital where she was treated, earlier in the day. She expressed:
“I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year. My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside [Prince] William and me as we have navigated everything. We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”

She and William have become joint patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, she acknowledged:
“In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer.”
Discussing her own diagnosis, she candidly shared:
“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support. C”
Fantastic news!

As Perezcious readers know, after weeks of conspiracy theories and concerns about her health and whereabouts, Kate Middleton announced she was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in March 2024 after having a planned abdominal surgery that January. By September, she was “cancer-free” and had concluded her treatment. So, now to already be in “remission” is such a relief!
As mentioned, this announcement comes just hours after she made a surprise solo visit to the hospital in London to visit with staff and patients. According to DailyMail.com, Kate was relieved to be entering the facility via the front door for the first time, remarking on her way in:
“Coming in the front entrance here, having made so many quiet, private visits, actually it’s quite nice.”
She faced her health battle under so much secrecy — and amid many conspiracy theories — we’re sure it was nice to feel like she didn’t have to hide.
The 43-year-old then met with a bunch of staff and she got very honest about what she’s been dealing with post-treatment, sharing:
“You think treatment’s finished, crack on with that… daily tasks, but that’s still like a real challenge. And talking… the words totally disappear… understanding that as a patient, yes there are side effects around treatment, but actually there are more long-term side effects.”
She went on to stress that the “continuity” of holistic care “is so important, on good days and bad day,” continuing:
“I feel like it’s sometimes for the loved ones around us. They need support just as much as I did as the patient.”
She has such young kids, we’re sure they’ve needed extra support to get through this difficult time (especially since their grandfather is also undergoing cancer treatment).
Elsewhere during her visit, the future Queen spoke with several patients. While hugging one, Kate expressed:
“I wanted to come and show my support for the amazing work that’s going on here and for those who are going through treatment and having such a hard time. Are you OK? There is light at the end of that tunnel. Very nice to meet you and best of luck. You are in the best of hands.”
She also told another patient:
“The resilience you need to get through, first of all, a small taster of what you’ve gone through…. It’s to keep coming back….to be as positive as you are. The treatments are really so different and so varied, it impacts families differently.”
Kate even hinted at her own treatment when talking to a patient, Katherine Field, who wore a cold cap to try to preserve her hair while undergoing chemotherapy. Kate pointed to her arm and chest while discussing a “port” mechanism that delivers the meds, joking that she “got so attached to it,” she hesitated to have it taken out when it was time. Per the outlet, Kate is believed not to have used a cold cap.
At another point, she was heard saying:
“It’s really tough. It’s such a shock.”
Later, she spoke with a patient who had been diagnosed five years ago. She recalled her cycle of treatment meant “sometimes you feel relatively well, and then you have another one.” She added:
“Sometimes from the outside we all think you’ve finished treatment and you go back to things. But it’s hard to get back to normal.”
When told that she seemed to be managing her kiddos “amazingly well” during her illness, Kate replied to another individual:
“Oh, that’s kind. Thank you for saying that.’
That’s certainly not an easy task!
After her visit, a Kensington Palace spokesperson told the outlet:
“The Princess wanted to make the journey to both show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world-leading care and treatment the Marsden provides.”
An aide added that the engagement “was about visiting the Marsden to reflect on her own personal journey.” How special to be able to give back to the people that helped her become cancer-free! We’re sure this was a special and emotional visit considering her new remission news. We continue to wish her well as she recovers from this traumatic ordeal.
