Every year on February 2nd, Punxsutawney Phil comes out of his burrow at Gobbler’s Knob and predicts whether spring is just around the corner, or if we’re in for 6 more weeks of winter.
This year, Phil got it wrong, as he so often does.
On the first day of spring on Wednesday, the Northeast was blasted with snow and chilly weather.
Statistically, Phil is actually wrong more often than he should be if he were just guessing.
Maybe it’s time for a new profession. Especially now that things are getting serious.
A prosecutor in Ohio has had enough and has “indicted” Punxsutawney Phil.
He said:
“I woke up this morning and the wind was blowing, the snow was flying, the temperatures were falling, and I said ‘Punxsutawney, you let us down.'”
So the Butler County sheriff’s department is now trying to extradite Phil to stand trial!
It’s all obviously a joke but they do seem to actually be taking the same steps they would for an actual case.
